Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the RestorSignal services published by MargePro SASU: RestorSignal Ops, a recurring backup-restorability verification service, and RestorSignal Evidence, a summary report built from the Ops history actually observed. Creating an account or using the service constitutes full acceptance of these Terms of Use.
2 — Description and scope of the service
RestorSignal runs a restore-test protocol on backup artifacts that the client chooses to submit to it, via a local runner executed under the client's control. RestorSignal:
- never connects to the client's backup consoles (Proxmox/PBS, NAS, Synology, QNAP, third-party backup software, etc.);
- never discovers, selects, or downloads any backup on the client's behalf;
- never receives backup content or the business data it contains — only metadata and a normalized, minimized result are transmitted to the Control Plane.
The first protocol available in v1.0 covers MariaDB databases, with a maximum control level of L3 (usable restore/startup) on the L0–L5 scale. Levels L4 (full restore) and L5 (explicit application-level check) are not implemented at this stage and are never presented as available.
Article 3 — Service access and user account
Access to the client dashboard (dashboard.restorsignal.com) and to the admin console requires named authentication. The user is responsible for the confidentiality of their credentials and for any activity carried out from their account. Any suspected loss or unauthorized use must be reported without delay to contact@restorsignal.com.
API keys used by local runners are specific to each installation. The full secret is shown only once, at creation, and is never stored in plaintext by RestorSignal; its loss requires revoking the key and generating a new one.
Article 4 — User obligations
The user agrees to:
- choose and provide the backup artifacts to be tested themselves, and guarantee they hold the necessary rights over those artifacts;
- never transmit to the RestorSignal API any business data, raw backup content, or production credentials or passwords;
- keep API keys and login credentials confidential, and revoke them without delay in case of suspected compromise;
- use the service in line with its technical purpose, without attempting to bypass tenant-isolation mechanisms or access data that does not belong to them.
Article 5 — Intellectual property
The RestorSignal service, its interfaces, its documentation, and its code are the exclusive property of MargePro SASU. Using the service grants the user no intellectual property rights, other than a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use limited to the duration of their subscription.
Article 6 — Limits and disclaimer of warranty
RestorSignal detects observable anomalies — a stagnant artifact, an overdue expected check, a restore failure, a structural variation — from the results it receives. The service does not constitute:
- a certification or an attestation of regulatory compliance;
- an anti-fraud system: in local ("SELF-HOSTED") use, RestorSignal cannot guarantee that an operator with control of the execution machine has not fabricated or altered an entry before transmission;
- independent proof that the supplied artifact actually and fully originates from the declared production environment.
Every result stays qualified by its scope, the control level reached, and its displayed limitations. A check that wasn't run is always reported as such (NOT_TESTED) and is never presented as an implicit success.
Article 7 — Pricing and billing
RestorSignal Ops' pricing model is based on the number of active contexts tracked and the chosen history retention period. Tests and retests run locally are not a billing unit: running more checks doesn't increase the price. Precise pricing terms are the subject of a quote or a separate commercial contract between MargePro SASU and the client.
Article 8 — Term and termination
The subscription is entered into for the term agreed at order time. Either party may terminate under the conditions set out in the applicable commercial contract. Upon termination, the client's history remains accessible for the contractually defined retention period, unless otherwise requested.
Article 9 — Liability
MargePro SASU implements reasonable means to ensure the service's availability and security. Its liability cannot be engaged beyond the limits set out in Article 6 and in the legal notice, nor for indirect damages resulting from use of the service.
Article 10 — Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms of Use are governed by French law. Any dispute over their interpretation or performance falls, absent an amicable resolution, under the jurisdiction of the courts of Chartres, subject to the mandatory consumer-protection provisions applicable within the European Union.
